Masaya Kato

Masaya Katō (Japanese加藤 雅 也, Katō Masaya; * April 27, 1963 in Nara, Nara Prefecture) is a Japanese actor.

Life and work

Before his career as an actor Masaya, a trained boxer and sportsman Far Eastern "martial arts " fighting styles, was a well-known in Japan male fashion model. After a pedagogy studies at the State University of Yokohama, he debuted in 1988 in the children's film Marilyn ni Aitai, for which he won the Japanese Academy Award for Best Newcomer. It was followed by numerous other Japanese film productions, before the American thriller played in 1994 in his first international film, with the smile of an enemy, on the side of Brooke Shields. He received international recognition, mainly in 1995 in the role of Ryuji Hanada in Crying Freeman movie - The Son of the Dragon, where he carried out all the fight scenes and stunts.

Masaya embodies often villains in film productions, this however does not lie down firmly on film genres. He's next action movies, often seen in dramas and comedies.
