Massimo Ceccaroni

Massimo Ceccaroni ( born August 15, 1968 in Basel ) is a Swiss former professional football player; he played from 1987 to 2002 and thus his entire professional career with FC Basel. Today he works in the youth department of FC Basel.

Ceccaroni grew at Helvetia place in Iselin quarter. In 1977 he began playing with the juniors of FC Basel football and ran through all the junior departments until he was accepted into the first team in 1987. His greatest successes were to rise again with FC Basel in the National League A ( 1994) and the first championship of the club for 22 years ( 2002).

Although footballing limited Ceccaroni applies in his hometown of Basel as a cult figure. On the one hand, because he stayed 25 years at his hometown club and the games always full commitment showed the other hand, because Ceccaroni during his entire professional career in the top flight never scored a goal; not even when he was in a league match against Grasshoppers Zurich missed a penalty in 2000 and continued the following additional funding to the lower bar instead of into the empty net.

After the FC Basel him had not renewed the contract in 2002, he played it briefly when amateur club SC Dornach, until he became a player-coach for BSC Old Boys Basel. Since the summer of 2012 Ceccaroni is the Technical Head of youth department of FC Basel. His brother Stefano Ceccaroni is also a football coach.

Ceccaroni is co-owner of ABT flooring AG and worked there for ten years.
