Mateh Yehuda Regional Council

The regional administration Mateh Jude ( מועצה אזורית מטה יהודה, Mo'atza Azorit Mateh Yehuda ) is a regional government in Israel's Jerusalem District. It is named after one of the twelve tribes of Israel, the tribe of Judah.

Location

The regional administrative borders west to the city limits of Jerusalem. Mateh Jude was founded on 25 June 1964, when four smaller administrative units have been combined. About 50 % of the territory is covered with forests, national parks and nature reserves and archaeological sites.
