Mathiasberg

The Mathiasberg is a 50 -meter-high mountain between Bötzow and Velten north of Berlin, in the district of Upper Havel in Brandenburg.

On the Mathiasberg taught 1941 Hermann Honnef a testing ground for the use of wind energy a. Five different wind turbines were built with a total of seven different generators, the plant was the highest Appendix I, which had a blade diameter of nine meters and standing on a 36 meter high steel framework tower. In March 1945, the plant on the Mathiasberg because of the advancing Red Army had to be shut down. After the war, the wind power plants were blown up by the Soviet army, the melted parts. Today, four concrete foundations have been preserved, an original propeller set is for transport and technology can be seen in the Berlin Museum.
