Matteo Rosselli

Matteo Rosselli ( born August 8, 1578 Florence, † January 18, 1650 ) was an Italian painter.

WIth nine years, he was entrusted by his father Gregorio Pagani the artistic direction that made him work especially after the works of Andrea del Sarto. Rosselli has been Pagani's most important employee, then studied in Rome the works of Raphael and Polidoro da Caravaggio. After Pagani's death in 1605 he inherited the studio. Among his numerous pupils Baldassare Franceschini ( il Volterrano ), Lorenzo Lippi, Francesco Furini, Giovanni da San Giovanni (Giovanni Mannozzi ) and Jacopo Vignali.Rosselli even worked a lot for the Grand Ducal family of the Medici. He is buried in the church of San Marco in Florence.
