Matteo Thun

Matteo Thun ( born June 17, 1952 in Bolzano, full name Matthew Anthony Maria Graf von Thun und Hohenstein ) is an Italian architect and designer.

Career

Mattheus was born in 1954 in Bolzano, the first son of the family business Thun ( Lene and Otmar von Thun und Hohenstein ), his younger brother, Peter led the business since 1078th

Matteo Thun is defined in its work by "eco -non -ego " ( eco - instead of ego). He was a pupil Oskar Kokoschka at the Summer Academy of Salzburg and received his doctorate in 1975 at the University of Florence to the doctor of architecture. He was co-founder in 1981 of Sottsass Associati and the Memphis Group. 1983 to 1996 he was Professor of Design at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna. In 1984 he founded his own studio in Milan and made there way across architecture, design and communication.

He is married to Susanne Benger and has two children. Thun lives in Milan.

Awards

Thun was honored three times with the " Compasso d' Oro " for first-class style. From 1990 to 1993 he was Creative Director of " Swatch ". His Side Hotel in Hamburg, which he produced in collaboration with artist Robert Wilson, in 2001 " Hotel of the Year ". For the 61st, 62nd and 63rd Film Festival in Venice 2004/2005/2006 he designed the facade of the " Palazzo del Cinema" new.

In 2004 he received the " Gala Spa Award" and the "Wallpaper Design Award" for the " Vigilius Mountain Resort " in Lana, South Tyrol. Furthermore, it was for the " Compasso d' Oro " for the collection " Girly" (sanitary facilities ) for " Catalano " nominated and recorded in New York in the "Hall of Fame".

In 2005 he received the award "Panda d' Oro " by the WWF for the " Vigilius Mountain Resort ". For the hotel " Radisson SAS Frankfurt " he received in 2005 the " Worldwide Hospitality Award" in the category " Best Hotel opened in the Year."
