Matthew Diamond

Matthew Diamond (* November 26, 1951 in Manhattan, New York City ) is an American film and television director, film producer and choreographer.

Life

Matthew Diamond grew up in New York City and ended the City College of New York with a Bachelor of Arts. Subsequently, he attended the High School of Performing Arts. His career began in 1970 as a dancer for Louis Falco Dance Company. From 1975 to 1976 he worked for Jennifer Muller / The Works and 1978 for the Batsheva Dance Company in Tel Aviv. He then moved to choreography, first for the Bat- Dor Dance Company, then he started his own business with Mary Loffredo with his own dance company "Diamond". During this time he also worked as a director for Children's Free Opera. As a choreographer also worked for the Washington Ballet. His choreographies were among others at Carnegie Hall, Jacob 's Pillow Dance and the Brooklyn Academy of Music listed. The later choreographer Tere O'Connor worked as a dancer for Diamond.

Diamond was nominated as director of the film Dance Maker for a documentary Oscar. With the same film, he won the " Film & Video - The Arts" award from the San Francisco International Film Festival. He also won an Emmy and several Daytime Emmy Awards and DGA Awards.
