Matthew Hatton (2010)

Matthew James Hatton (born 15 May 1981 in Stockport, Greater Manchester ) is a British professional boxer and former European champion of the EBU welterweight.

He is the younger brother of multiple boxing world champion Ricky Hatton.

Career

He began at the age of twelve years with boxing, played only 22 amateur fights and changed in 2000, at the age of 19 years into the professional. By the end of 2006, he played 33 fights mainly against construction opponent, but he suffered only a point- a TKO and a Disqualifikationsniederlage.

On 20 January 2007 he won the International Masters title of the IBF, by a premature victory against the American Frank Houghtaling. This was followed five months later the Intercontinental Championship title of IBF by a unanimous points victory against Edwin Vazquez from Puerto Rico. In the battle for the Commonwealth Cup in May 2008, but he lost on points against Craig Watson.

Through a TKO win over Ted Bami (total: 26 wins - 4 losses ) from the Congo, he received on 13 November 2009 a world title chance of IBO against Australian Lovemore Ndou ( 47-11 ) against which he, however, about twelve rounds only reached a draw. For this he won on March 26, 2010 by a unanimous points win over Gianluca Branco ( 43-2 ), the European title of the EBU and even defended him in the same year against Yuri Nuschnenko (30-1 ) from Ukraine and Roberto Belge ( 25-0 ) from Switzerland.

On March 5, 2011, he then punched to the world title the WBC title against Mexican Saúl Álvarez carrier ( 35-0 ) to this was beaten on points, however. After a win against Andrei Abramenka ( 15-0 ), he also lost on points against Kell Brook ( 26-0 ).

A new IBO world title fight in March 2013, he lost to the South African Chris van Heerden (18-1 ).
