Matthias DOL ( born September 15, 1970 in Ochsenhausen ) is a German aerobatic pilot.

Career

First Matthias trained as a banker. His flying career began much earlier at the airfield in Tannheim in Upper Swabia. At 14 he made ​​his first solo flight here. In 1988 he received a microlight flight license as the youngest German. A few days later he reached the third place at the German Championships. Between 1988 and 1991, DOL participated in the squad of the German Ultralight flight team at several European and World Championships. With the title of the German master, he finally ended his career in this sport air. In the same year, DOL has been a flight instructor - also the youngest German. Together with his sister Verena, he took over the family-run airfield Tannheim. To share your passion for flying with others, founded the two Tannkosh, an international aviation meeting and largest with more than 1,300 participating aircraft in Europe Fly-in.

2002 DOL was an official member of the Flying Bulls, for which he is to this day as a pilot on several aircraft types in use worldwide. In total, he has spent more than 300 days of his life in the cockpit, controlled via 100 different types of aircraft and completed many airshows throughout Europe.

Competition aerobatics

DOL intensified in the summer of 2006, his aerobatic activities with an extra 300; a year later he took part in the aerobatic world championships in the category Unlimited. After a change to the type of aircraft Extra 330 SC DOL celebrated winning the German Championship and also reached high rankings in international competitions - always in the " Unlimited".

Red Bull Air Race pilot

It starts at the Red Bull Air Race Series since 2009. Due to its success DOL was invited to the Red Bull Air Race Qualification Camp in the Spanish Casarrubios. Here he received the Super License, the requirement to participate in the Red Bull Air Race World Championship. In 2009 he had his first season as a racing pilot in the "Formula 1 of the Skies". At the opening race in Abu Dhabi DOL took the same first championship point. The race in Budapest, Hungary with a surprising fifth place brought DOL his goal of completing the 10 World Cup in the top, one step closer. With his first podium finish despite multiple time penalties at the last race of the season in Barcelona, ​​he finally secured 9th place in the overall standings after he threatened earlier to miss the point with position 11.

Motorsport

2010 and 2011 he participated as a guest to ever a racing event of the Mini Challenge Germany and took part in 2011 in the overall standings to 22nd place with 12 points.
