Matthijs Naiveu

Matthys Naiveu ( baptized April 16, 1647 in Leiden, † 1721 in Amsterdam) was a Dutch painter.

Matthys Naiveu created genre scenes, portraits, religious paintings and still life. Knowledge of Naiveu is essentially based on the information provided by Arnold Houbraken. After that he was only a pupil of Abraham Toorenvliet and then of Gerard Dou. In 1671 he became a member of the Guild of St. Luke of suffering. In 1677 he was Hoofdman (Chairman ) in his hometown. In the same year he moved to Amsterdam. On March 9, 1696 he became a citizen of Amsterdam.
