Matti Paasivuori

Matti Paasivuori (born Hällberg, later to 1906 Hälleberg; born May 6, 1866 in Ilmajoki, † June 16, 1937 in Helsinki) was a Finnish politician of the Social Democratic Party of Finland (SDP ).

The qualified carpenter was involved early in the labor movement. 1899 saw the foundation of the later SDP, for which he sat from 1907 in the Finnish parliament, while the electoral district in eastern Finland Karelia Viipurin lääni represented. Within the party he represented, unlike other chairman of the SDP in his time as Kullervo Manner or Otto Wille Kuusinen who later joined the Communist Party, moderate positions. After the Finnish Civil War of 1918 he was also the only representative of the political left, which is not stayed away from the Senate. Under Oskari Tokoi Paasivuori 1917 was Deputy Chairman of the Trade and Industry Ministry. In 1927, he was also Minister of Social Affairs in the government of Social Democrats Väinö Tanner. His mandate in the Finnish parliament had Paasivuori until August 1936.
