Matti Pellonpää

Matti Pellonpää ( born March 28, 1951 in Helsinki, † July 13, 1995 in Vaasa ) was a Finnish actor.

He began his career in 1962 as a radio play actor in the Finnish national broadcaster YLE. As an actor he appeared since the early 1970s at several amateur theaters. During this time he trained at the Finnish Theatre Academy, which he graduated in 1977.

In the 1980s, Matti Pellonpää was mainly through films of the brothers Aki and Mika Kaurismäki, where he most embodied social outsiders, also known internationally.

1993 Matti Pellonpää was awarded as the best European performer of the year with the " Felix" of the European Film Academy.

Matti Pellonpää died on 13 July 1995 of a heart attack.
