Maurice Jaubert
Maurice Jacques Joseph Eugène Jaubert ( born January 3, 1900 in Nice, France, † June 19, 1940 in Baccarat in the department of Meurthe -et -Moselle, France) was a French composer.
Life and work
After a legal education of the son of a famous lawyer wrote early 20s orchestral works, chamber music, ballet, theater and film music. He belonged to the intellectual left in France in the thirties of the 20th century and composed accordingly committed, popular pieces.
Jaubert accompanied by sound films, among others, René Clair, Jean Vigo and Marcel Carné.
François Truffaut used posthumously for his four films of his music: L' histoire d' Adèle H. ( The Story of Adele H., 1975), L' argent de poche (pocket money, 1975), L' homme qui les femmes aimait ( the Man Who loved Women, 1977) and La chambre verte ( the Green Room, 1978).
Jaubert died in a military hospital after he had previously received fatal injuries in Azerailles, Département Meurthe et Moselle.
