Mauritia (microcontinent)

Mauritia is a Proterozoic microcontinent in the Indian Ocean, on which lies the island of Mauritius, among others, and extends under the sea northwards to the Seychelles. It is believed that the continental fragment has separated before 83.5 to 61 million years from Madagascar and Plumes with volcanic rocks ( basalts can not fault it ) was covered. The components of this continent have found age to 1971 Ma and 660-840 million years.
