Max Adalbert

Maximilian Adalbert spasm, called Max, ( born February 19, 1874 in Gdansk, † September 7, 1933 in Munich) was a German theater and film actor who shone especially in comic roles. He starred in over 40 films in the silent and sound era, but also occurred in the cabaret.

Life

The native Max spasm came from a Prussian officer's family and called himself an early stage as an actor, " Adalbert ". As a 19 -year-old he made his debut in Lübeck in 1894 and received at the City Theatre Barmen his first engagement. St. Gallen, Nuremberg and Vienna were other milestones in his theater career. He first took over typical lover roles.

In 1899 he came to the Berlin Palace Theatre. He became known in the following years, especially at the Little Theatre and the German Art Theatre. Adalbert turned into the comedian and was several times along with Curt Bois on stage. In December 1924 he founded with other artists the cabaret comedian. On 30 May 1931, he played for the first time at the Deutsches Theater in the title role of Carl Zuckmayers Der Hauptmann von Köpenick. Through him, this role was tailor- made ​​for her, the play was a great success on the stage.

In the silent film Max Adalbert got some supporting roles since 1915. Its importance for the film changed dramatically with the introduction of the sound film where he could bring his Berlin mouth full advantage. In 1931, he shone now in the film in his signature role as The Captain of Köpenick.

Max Adalbert died during a tour in Munich from the effects of pneumonia. He was buried on 18 September 1933 on the Southwest Stahnsdorf.
