Max Schultz

Max Schultz ( born December 3, 1874 in New Brünken, Pomerania, † January 23, 1917 ) was a German naval officer, most recently a lieutenant commander.

Career

Schultz came in 1894 in the Imperial Navy. He received his first command in the I. Torpedobootsflottille under Lieutenant Commander Leberecht Maass. By Activity in the Imperial Navy Office, he was head of the 1913 VI. Torpedobootsflottille. With this he took in the First World War in various thrusts of the High Seas Fleet in part, including the battle at the Dogger Bank and the Battle of Jutland.

On the trip to Zeebrugge pushed the run from him VI. Flotilla on 23 January 1917 in the Hoofden on superior British forces. His torpedo boat V 69 was severely damaged in the following naval battle and he himself was killed by a direct hit on the bridge.

Honors

  • The Navy named their destroyers Z 3 according to Schultz.
  • In the cemetery of honor in Wilhelmshaven is a memorial stone for Max Schultz.
