Maxim Podoprigora

Maxim Podoprigora ( born April 18, 1978 in Kiev, Ukraine) is an Austrian swimmer.

Podoprigora lives in Vienna, where he began training for the sport of swimming since 1992. His parents are the successful float Eugenia Rakitina and Yuri Podoprigora from the USSR.

With the World Swimming Championships in Fukuoka in 2001, he reached the second place on 200 m breaststroke, making it the first Austrian to win a medal at the World Swimming Championships. For this purpose, one gold, one silver and two bronze medals come in various European Swimming Championships, all about 200 m breaststroke. He also held 25 January to 14 December 2003, European record over this distance. There are also numerous Austrian titles and records.

In total he participated in three Olympic Games, Sydney 2000, Athens 2004 and Beijing 2008.
