Maximilian Philipp Hieronymus, Duke of Bavaria-Leuchtenberg

Maximilian Philipp Hieronymus, Prince of Bavaria ( born September 30, 1638 in Munich, † March 20 1705 in Turkic home ) was from 1650 until his death, Duke of Bavaria - Leuchtenberg and 1679-1680 Regent of the Electorate of Bavaria for the still underage Elector Max Emanuel.

Life

Maximilian Philipp was the second son of Maximilian I of Bavaria and Archduchess Maria Anna of Austria. 1650 exchanged his father with his brother Albert VI. the kingdom of County Hague against the Landgraviate Leuchtenberg and enfeoffed Maximilian Philipp with Leuchtenberg and the rule Schwabegg. Maximilian Philipp also acquired the imperial knighthoods Angelberg and Mattsies of the Fuggers.

Maximilian Philipp was married since 1668 with Maurita Febronia de la Tour d' Auvergne, daughter of Duke Friedrich Moritz von Bouillon. The marriage remained childless. After his death, the inheritance fell to his nephew Prince Elector Max Emanuel. Foundation funds in the amount of 60,000 guilders from his Allodialgütern were used for the construction of the Carmelite convent in Munich.
