Maximilien Luce

Maximilien Luce Jules ( born March 13, 1858 in Paris, † February 6, 1941 ) was a French painter of the Late Impressionism.

Life

Maximilien Luce initially began an apprenticeship as an eraser, then made in the studio of the free art school in Paris Académie Suisse and then went on to study painting under Eugène Froment. Here he met the painter Léo Gausson and Emile Cavallo - Peduzzi know. Along with Lucien Pissarro, the son of the painter Camille Pissarro, they founded the artist group in Lagny Groupe de Lagny. Together they grappled with the color theories of Georges Seurat and led away the technique of color separation. Besides Seurat especially Camille Corot was one of the artistic models of Luce. In addition to numerous landscapes emerged from 1887 onwards increasingly portraits. The obtained the artist's oeuvre comprises 4,200 paintings and 3,000 drawings.
