Maximus of Hispania

Maximus († January 23 422 in Ravenna ) was the son (or possibly a subordinate ) of Gerontius, General of the Western Roman counterpart Emperor Constantine (III ) in Spain in the year 409 as Gerontius rebelled against Constantine, he made Maximus in Tarraco ( Tarragona) to Augustus, and then marched to Gaul, where he left Maximus in Spain.

As Maximus of Gerontius ' defeat in Arles 411 learned, he fled to the Germanic mercenaries who had remained in Spain. In 417 Maximus was still alive. It is very likely that he is the one Tyrannus Maximus, whose end 418 or the second half of the year 419, with the support of the Vandal king Gunderich ( again ) rebelled in Spain. Maximus was 420 or 421 captured by Comes Hispaniarum Asterius and executed on 23 January 422 in Ravenna.
