Maxwell (musician)

Maxwell ( * May 23, 1973 in Brooklyn, New York) is an American R & B musician.

Biography

Maxwell came in 1973 in Brooklyn, New York, to the world. His father, who is from Puerto Rico, died in a plane crash, as Maxwell was three years old. His first musical experiences early on as a singer in a Baptist church. At 17 he began to write her own songs. 1994, at 21, he got a recording contract with Columbia Records.

Together with songwriter Leon Ware and guitarist Wah Wah Watson, he took in the same year on his debut album, Maxwell 's Urban Hang Suite, which had however to wait two years to its publication, because the record company doubted a success. The second single Ascension ( Do not Ever Wonder) was a hit and gave him the breakthrough. They sold over half a million copies and was certified gold. The album reached double platinum ( two million copies sold) and was nominated for a Grammy Award.

On 15 June 1997, he played an MTV unplugged session, the first seven songs on the EP MTV Unplugged: Maxwell published.

His second album Embrya was published in 1998. In 1999 he contributed to the soundtrack of the film life sentence in the song Fortunate. The song became his most successful single to date, spent eight weeks at No. 1 on the U.S. R & B charts and was named by Billboard Magazine as the best R & B single of the year 1999.

Now, his third album, was released in 2001 and reached number 1 on the album sales charts. This was followed by a long pause and in 2009 he reported back with a new single and a new album.

2012 was sung by Maxwell song " Fire we Make" released on the album " Girl On Fire " by Alicia Keys.

Private life

His girlfriend is Deimantė Guobytė (* 1991), bikini model from Lithuania.
