May Chidiac

May Chidiac ( born July 20, 1966 in Beirut ) is a Lebanese journalist.

Life

May Chidiac worked for the Lebanese Broadcasting Corporation ( LBC). She was there Anchor Women with a focus on political issues, and is known for their anti -Syrian stance. On 25 September 2005 an attack was carried out with a car bomb on them, which she survived. She lost by the assassination of the left forearm and the left leg.

For treatment, she went to France. On 12 July 2006 she came back to Lebanon and took some later return to work on. On January 27, 2006, they announced their candidacy for the parliamentary seat in Baabda Aley by-elections.

Awards

  • 2006 Chidiac received the " Courage in Journalism Awards " the " International Women's Media Foundation » ( IWMF ) and the UNESCO / Guillermo Cano World Press Freedom Prize for Freedom of the Press
  • In 2007 she was appointed Knight of the Legion of Honour.
