Mayhew Folger

Mayhew Folger ( born March 9, 1774 Nantucket, Massachusetts, † September 1, 1828 in Massillon, Ohio) was an American sailor and seal hunter.

On February 6, 1808 Folger ended up as captain of the Topaz on Pitcairn and thus discovered the island again. The last survivor of the mutiny on the Bounty, John Adams, follower handed the azimuth compass and the chronometer of the Bounty. Both items were later confiscated by the Spanish governor of the Juan Fernández Archipelago, today is the compass in the British Museum in London, the chronometer at the National Maritime Museum in Greenwich.
