Mayors and Independents

Starostové a nezávislí, abbreviated STAN ( German: mayor and Independent ), is a similar party, liberal-conservative political movement in the Czech Republic. Have already been built in 2004, in its current form then 2009. The focus of the work is based on decentralization issues.

History

On 19 August 2004 the movement was under the name " Nezávislí starostové per kraj " (NSK, Independent Mayor for the region ) register with the Ministry of Interior of the Czech Republic, which was made up of disaffected community mayors and independent local politicians and politically active citizens and almost exclusively operated at the district or regional level, particularly in the Zlín Region. In other districts, the movement occurred under some slightly different names in part. At the local district elections in the fall of 2008 succeeded the movement to capture a total of 21 seats in four districts in three districts they even reached over 10 percent of the vote.

On February 19, 2009, representatives of the movement from 14 districts met in Prague at a meeting at which the movement was founded under the present name " Starostové a nezávislí " and on the state level. Although the focus of the activity remained at the local level of district policy, it was the intention to establish itself at the level of policy in the Czech Republic. Registration as a " political movement " took place at the Ministry of Interior on 24 February 2009, as chairman Petr Gazdík was entered.

Prior to the early and finally stopped by the Constitutional Court 2009 parliamentary elections, the STAN was an alliance with the party TOP 09, which continues to continue holding and in the parliamentary elections in 2010 led to a significant success on the candidate list of TOP 09 (41 seats), three Stan - via representatives elected to the Czech Chamber of Deputies.

Electoral success

In October 2008, succeeded in STAN, first move into politics. In the local elections, she was successful in 4 of the 14 regions of the Czech Republic with a total of 21 mandates:

  • Zlín Region: 5 mandates (as Starostové a nezávislí per Zlín )
  • Central Bohemian Region: 4 mandates (as Nezávislí starostové per Region )
  • Liberec Region: 7 mandates ( kraj as Starostové per Liberec )
  • Carlsbad: 5 seats (as per Alternativa kraj )

In the local regional elections of 2010, STAN 1243 reached a total of 62 178 seats and became the sixth-largest force in the country.

In the 2010 parliamentary elections, some STAN members as candidates on the list of Top 09, three of them were elected.
