Maziwi Iceland is an uninhabited, vegetation-free island of Tanzania, located eight kilometers from the mouth of the Pangani in the Indian Ocean. The formerly lined with palm island is a nesting place for the endangered green turtle. Due to the rise in sea level, the felling of tree populations and the diving tourism, the island eroded greatly. With the help of local fishermen and non-governmental organizations, the original state is restored and the island are obtained as a nesting site of the green turtle.
