Mbarara University of Science and Technology ( Mbarara University of Science and Technology, MUST short ) is a university in Mbarara town in the district of Mbarara in Uganda.

History

The University was established by an enactment in October 1989 as the second public university in Uganda by Makerere University. It consisted at first only from a medical school and was founded in 1995 and extended in 1998 by a scientific and a Faculty of Development Studies. In addition, in the Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, an institution is operated for the preservation of tropical forests ( Institute of Tropical Forest Conservation ). The latest Institute is the institute for computer science.

Organization

The MUST is a Vice- Chancellor, who shall be assisted by a Deputy Vice-Chancellor may be present; the Registrar shall provide representative and symbolic tasks. It is divided into five faculties:

  • Medicine
  • Natural sciences
  • Development of science
  • Tropical Forest Conservation
  • Computer science.
