Mbozi District

Mbozi is a district in south-west Tanzania in Mbeya region with over 500,000 inhabitants. Most of them belong to the ethnic groups of the Nyiha and Nyamwanga. Mbozi directly borders Zambia and to the districts Chunya, Mbeya country and Ileje. To the west lies the Rukwa region.

Administrative headquarters are Vwawa, located on the main road from Dar es Salaam via Mbeya to Zambia via Tunduma.

The name of the district derives from the Moravian mission station founded in 1899 Mbozi near Vwawa from, where the Moravian Church has a hospital and a school.
