Meanguera del Golfo

Meanguera del Golfo, is the official name of the municipality ( municipality ) in the department of La Unión. The seat of the municipal administration Alcaldía Municipal de Meanguera del Golfo is located on the island Isla del Golfo Meanguera and is located in Barrio El Centro.

On June 17, 1916, the island ( Caseríos ) were by decree of then President Carlos Meléndez granted town rights and the local government of the island and neighboring islands in 3 counties ( Cantone ) and 13 villages divided, it belongs to the department of La Unión. Chairman of the Management is Luis Antonio Dheming Almendáres Party ( ARENA )

In 2012, 40 % of the population of the municipality were connected to the drinking water supply and more than 90 % on the power supply.
