Median (geometry)
A Seitenhalbierende (also heavy line or median) of a triangle is a line that connects a vertex of the triangle to the midpoint of the opposite side. Together with the perpendicular bisectors ( bisectors ), the medians are bisector ( Winkelsymmetralen ) and the heights of the classic transversals of triangle geometry.
As a Seitenhalbierende halved the triangular face, it is a special or a median line of gravity: The three medians of a triangle intersect at a point, the center of gravity of the triangle as above. This divides each of the medians in the ratio 2:1. In this case, the distance between center of gravity and area is longer than the distance between center of gravity and center side.
