Medicago truncatula is a species of the genus of snail clover (Medicago ).

Description

Medicago truncatula is reached centimeter a one-year stem - Therophyt, the plant height 15-30 (50). The leaves are (6 ) 8 to 15 millimeters in size. The crown is 6 to 8 millimeters in size. The sleeves have a diameter of 7 to 12 mm are more or less hairy on the back. Their (2) 4 to 5 ( 8) windings are thinner than 2 mm. Approximately perpendicular to the winding plane are spines, these are furrowed only briefly or not at the bottom. The back seam stands out on either side, each with a groove and forms three keels.

The flowering period extends from March to May

Occurrence

The species occurs in the Mediterranean. In Crete it grows on fields, fallow land, waste places, Phrygana and sand shores at altitudes 0-1100 meters.
