Medieval Welsh literature

As Cynfeirdd [' kanveirð '] (Welsh "old / early poets " ), the earliest bards in Wales called, are said to have formed from the surviving originals of the 6th century and from our own creations their works. Their successors are called " younger bards " or " poet laureate " ( gogynfeirdd ).

The Cynfeirdd

In particular, the five poets Taliesin, Aneirin, Talhaearn, Blwchfardd and Cian (not to be confused with the hero Cian Irish mythology ) known Llywarch Hen is also sometimes associated with them. They all lived in the second half of the 6th century in northern England and southern Scotland and enrolled in the fragmentary traditional Cumbrian language. From Talhaearn, Blwchfardd and Cian only the names are known, their works listed as missing.

Taliesin and Aneirin are already famous in the Middle Ages as a poet, whose works have been preserved in mittelkymrischer language. Modern research has shown that some of these poems from later eras come and the two were attributed until after her death. As from this time hardly written sources are available, all assignments must be tested by criteria such as style, language and meter, so there are some to differing professional opinions. The works are then handed down only in manuscripts of the 13th century and what these classifications further complicated because sometimes the originals are just more difficult to see behind the adaptations.
