Méditerranée

Méditerranée is was originally a department of the French Empire. It was established on 24 May 1808 in the wake of the annexation of the Kingdom of Etruria. Capital was Livorno, with the arrondissements of Livorno, Volterra, Pisa. 1811 Elba Portoferraio added as Arrondissement. The continental part of 1814 went on the Tuscan island of Elba to the ex-Emperor Napoleon by the Treaty of Fontainebleau.
