Medway River (Nova Scotia)

The Medway River is a river in the Canadian province of Nova Scotia.

It has its origin in the small lake Alma Lake to the north of Annapolis County. From there it flows in a predominantly south-east through Queens County in the south of the Nova Scotia peninsula. There are several lakes along its river. The Ponhook Lake divides the river into an upper and a lower course. The Pleasant River drains the northern Molega Lake and flows above the Ponhook Lake on the left into the Medway River. The 80 km long Medway River continues its course to the southeast continued and eventually flows into the Medway Harbor, a bay on the east coast of Nova Scotia. The catchment area covers 1400 km ². Places along the river are Greenfield and Charleston.

The Medway River was once used for rafts. The Atlantic salmon came earlier before numerous in the river system. Due to the acidification of waters whose number has declined sharply. Measures are taken lately, the migratory fish back stronger to settle the Medway River.
