Meetro

Meetro is a multi- protocol client, a chat program that can work with multiple networks. It is compatible with AOL Instant Messenger, Yahoo! Messenger, MSN Messenger and ICQ (hence " multi-network "). In addition, the so-called location-based services (LBS ) is supported.

Use Meetros properties of the location determination of both the knowledge and networking of / with people with similar interests in any ( currently mostly urban ) environment, as well as the integration of several "messaging protocols" (chat services such as MSN) in a single program. Meetros umbrella company is Meetroduction, LLC, headquartered in Palo Alto, California, United States.

Meetro differs from other well-known chat programs, as the user can enter specifications to his Stand-/Wohnort to reach other users nearby. Currently the service supports most of the regions in the U.S. and Europe and expanded to cover other areas. Meetro works by scanning of MAC addresses of nearby wireless connection points.
