Megastomatohyla

Megastomatohyla is a genus of the family of tree frogs ( Hylidae ).

Description

The genus is defined by different genetic characteristics. A possible morphological synapomorphy of the taxon is the greatly enlarged mouth field of tadpoles, which contains 7 to 10 upper lip and lower lip 10 to 11 rows of teeth.

Occurrence

The area in which the species occurs comprises the cloud forests of the Mexican states of Veracruz and Oaxaca.

The genus was Megastomatohyla 2005 Faivovich et al. first described.
