Mehano

The company Mehano is since 1952 a Slovenian manufacturer of model trains and toys, whose sales has also established itself in Germany since the late 1990s. The program includes high-speed trains such as the Thalys are, the TGV, AVE, or Euromed, as well as many U.S. locomotives, cars and trams.

Since 2000, Mehano now also produces models with a German or European model. Most of these models correspond to the present-day quality of " high-price models " under the brand Mehano Prestige. Examples include the Blue Tiger, the G2000, Class 66, Siemens ES64P ( Euro Sprinter ), SNCB Class 51 SNCB HLD 77 or TGV different versions. The plan is currently, among other things Vossloh G 1700-2 BB. The available models for both the two-wire -to-DC, as for the center conductor of AC system. Initially Mehano has also offered explanations for Trix Express. There is also a rather small range of goods carriage.

In addition, the brand is also known for low-priced starter sets, which are sold at Christmas time about ALDI. However, these have little to do with quality of the Prestige series, it involves very simplistic models that their models are similar in some cases only very distantly. On 4 November 2008 it announced the dismissal of the remaining 140-160 employees and thus the likely closure of the plant. The reason was compared to 2006 given in Slovenian media by 60 % shrunken total backlog and pending payments of Belgian and German customers.

Since February 2012 Company Lemke has taken over the sales for Germany Mehano of Slovenia. It should be available in previous products, new models are announced.
