Mehdi Akhavan-Sales

Mehdi Akhavan - Sales (Persian مهدی اخوان ثالث ), also Akhavan - Saless; * 1928 in Mashhad, Iran; † 1990 in Tehran ), stage name M. Omid (Persian م. امید, Hope ) was an Iranian poet. He is one of the pioneers of the seal in the open verses in Persian language.

Life

Akhavan Sales was born in 1928 in Mashhad. He was imprisoned along with other political activists. His daughter Laleh, was born during his captivity.

After his release from prison in 1957, he began a work in radio and was shortly thereafter moved to Khuzestan to work for television. Later he taught literature on radio, television and at the university. After the Iranian Revolution of 1979, he was inducted into the Iranian Academy of Artists and Writers. In 1981 he was forced to resign from the public work without pay. In 1990, he traveled with an invitation of a German artists' organization for the first time abroad. Some months after his return he died in a multi - hospital in Tehran. He was buried on the site of the mausoleum of Ferdowsi in Tus.
