Mehmet Mehdi Eker

Mehmet Mehdi Eker ( born January 1, 1956 at the County Bismil, Diyarbakır Province) is a Turkish veterinarians, politicians and Minister of Agriculture.

He graduated from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Ankara. His master made ​​Eker at the University of Aberdeen in the field Landwirtschaftsökonomie.Seine doctoral thesis he wrote at the Institute of Health Sciences at the University of Ankara. Eker was deputy director of the Central Institute for Animal Husbandry Lalahan, director of veterinary affairs of the city council İstanbul, Deputy Director General of Agricultural Production and Development, Ministry of Agriculture, Director General of Protection and Control, as well as Secretary of State.

Mehmet Mehdi Eker was a member of the Adalet ve Kalkınma Partisi ( AKP) for the province of Diyarbakır in the 22nd legislative period (October 14, 2002 to July 22, 2007 ) of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey. He was also Minister of Agriculture in the 59th Government ( I. Erdoğan Cabinet) of the Republic of Turkey. Eker 's 2007 Member of the Cabinet of II Erdoğan AKP government under Erdogan in which he is again Minister of Agriculture since 29 August.

Eker is married and father of three children.
