Meisdorf House

The Meisdorf Castle is a castle in the village of Meis Falkensteiner district in Saxony-Anhalt, which is now used as a hotel. It was built in 1708 with a twelve acre park.

History

In the second half of the 18th century, both Meis village and the nearby Castle Falkenstein were owned by the court officials and diplomats Achatz Ferdinand of the Asseburg. As the castle was only used as a hunting lodge and the old Meisdorfische residential building had become too small for the needs of the Barons, this was built in 1787, a new more spacious, albeit simple lock, while the existing residence was converted into official apartment. The new castle, whose façade was facing away from the place Meis village was connected to that through a 400 step linden and chestnut avenue.

After the death of the builder, who was buried with his family in a set of raw rock pieces by him in the baroque style of his time at the nearby Castle Mausoleum, the Castle of Asseburg family went into the possession of Neindorfischen line. As this line became extinct in 1816 with the death of Ludwig Domkapitulars Busso of the Asseburg, the rule of Falkenstein Eggenstedt - Ampfurtischen line fell.
