Melba Montgomery

Melba Montgomery ( born October 14, 1938 Melba Joyce Montgomery in Iron City, Tennessee) is an American country music singer who became famous in the 1960s by her duet with George Jones.

Melba Montgomery grew up in rural Tennessee. She began her musical career as a singer in the church choir. At a talent competition in 1958 Roy Acuff noticed her and offered her a job in his backing.
