Melissa Anne Barbieri ( born January 20, 1980 in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia) is an Australian football national team in the position of goalkeeper. She plays since 2013 for the W - League club Adelaide United. For the Australian national team they previously completed 79 internationals.

Career

Barbieri began playing football at age 14 as a field player on the left. In 2002, she suffered a back injury that nearly means her career end, if it had not changed into the goal. There she quickly became the number one in the Australian national team for which they played since 2002. In 2006 she became the first female player who participated in the Richmond Eagles FC in a contest for men. As Cheryl Salisbury end of 2009 ended her career was Barbieri her successor as captain of the Matildas.
