Men Without Hats

Men Without Hats is the name of a Canadian pop band, which is associated with the New Wave movement. She had her greatest success in the 1980s.

Band History

Founded in 1976 in Montreal (Quebec ) as Wave 21, it renamed itself in 1977 to Men Without Hats. She appeared in the early 1980s for the first time with EP Folk of the 80s, whose lyrics come from the folk, while the synth melodies are pop.

Her biggest commercial success was the song The Safety Dance from 1982, which has national in Canada cult status. The most successful albums Rhythm of Youth and Pop Goes the World which received the highest approvals from music critics.

Lead singer Ivan Doroschuk published in 1997 with The Spell a solo album before the band released in 2003 reunited and their first EP album in over a decade.

2012 appeared the album Love in the Age of War with 10 new songs. The band led by lead singer to newly founded want it to connect to Rhythm of Youth and presents, catchy and danceable Syntesizermusik in the style of the 80s.

A European tour led Men Without Hats 2013 to Germany.

Members

The core of the band consists of Ivan Doroschuk and his brother Stefan. Other members have included Colin, the third brother, and Jeremy kilos, Tracy Howe, Roman Martyn and Allan McCarthy.

Style

It is characteristic of deep, expressive vocals of their lead singer Ivan Doroschuk and their carefully elaborated use of synthesizers and electronic processing.

Naming

One version of the history of the name is that the band originally Men Without Hate ( men or people without hatred ) should have said, but the name was somehow transmitted incorrectly, and thus to Men Without Hats ( men or men without hats ) was. This theory is supported by the album title, The Adventures of Women & Men Without Hate in the 21st Century of 1989.

Another version claims the logo ( a crossed-out hat in the style of a traffic prohibition sign ) was there first. This logo was seen in Montreal at the entrance of clubs or on posters, to indicate that no formal wear is necessary.
