Mendeleyevo, Moscow Oblast

Mendelejewo (Russian Менделеево ) is an urban-type settlement in Moscow Oblast with 7927 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010 ).

The place is 40 km as the crow northwest of the center of Moscow on the river Klyazma. It was founded in 1957 and named after the chemist Dmitri Mendeleev. 1965, the status of an urban-type settlement was awarded.

Mendelejewo was known as the site of the National Institute of Metrology ( WNIIFTRI ), which establishes the legal time and spreads ( time signal transmitter RWM ). At the site there is a monitoring station of SDKM system.

Mendelejewo forms an eponymous municipality, in addition to mastering the settlement nor the north then Ljalowo village and the westernmost settlement of Krasny Voin ( " Red Warrior "). The municipality extends over 718 ha of which 301 ha ( 41.9 %) are inhabited, 48 ha (6.7%) is agricultural land, 169 ha (23.5%) industrial land and 200 ha ( 27.9% pose ) of forest.
