Merav Michaeli

Merav Michaeli (* November 24, 1966 in Petah Tikva ) is an Israeli journalist and politician.

Life

Michaeli began at the age of nineteen to work for the radio and with 21 as a television presenter. She writes as a journalist for the daily newspaper Haaretz. It represents feminist positions and is also an all discriminated groups. In 1996, she led a campaign for rape victims. Marriage as political, legal and economic institution had nothing to do with love and romance, so she called in 2012 at a TEDx conference in Jaffa at least the introduction of civil marriage in Israel.

In 2012 she joined the Labor Party ( Avoda ). In the parliamentary elections in Israel 2013 she ran for the Avodah and is a member of the 19th Knesset in 2013, where she sits on the opposition benches and is a member of the Legal Committee since 22 January. In her first speech in Parliament she spoke to feminist issues.

Although it occurs for an agreed through negotiations between Palestinians and Israelis two-state solution, they turned to 2013 against a negotiating mandate for the current Israeli Netanyahu government, as this would only negotiations without result. Each additional round of negotiations without result but would be detrimental to the already low confidence.
