The Mercedario is located in the Andes in Argentina and is 6,770 meters with the fourth highest mountain in South America.

The mountain lies on the border with Chile. On the Argentine side there are several checkpoints of the gendarmerie. It is operated mining, copper mining.

Access is often the place Barreal. After about 35 km you will reach the main checkpoint Las Juntas, the confluence of two waters. Access is via a guarded bridge. The mining company requires a permit. The mine itself is reached from Las Juntas out after 121 km.
