Meriç, Edirne

Meric ( until 1936 Kavaklı ) is the name of a district town and a district in the southern Turkish province of Edirne. Meric has 3,158 and the county 15,970 inhabitants ( 2010). The name Meric derived from the Turkish form of the name of Mariza.

The county is bordered on the west by Greece. There is next to the city Meric two more municipalities ( Küplü and Subaşı ) and 21 villages.
