Merregnon

Merregnon Fantasy is an international music project written by composers of games and movie music, previously released on two CD albums. Part 1 of the trilogy was released in 2000 ( Synsoniq Records / Pegasus Spiele ), Part 2 2004 ( Soul Food) and in a Japanese Edition 2005 (DEX Entertainment / Sony Music Japan ). The parties submitted, and others from Germany, Japan, Australia, England, Sweden, Finland and the USA.

Each of the 20 pieces per CD album is based on a part of a story which can be found in the nearly 30-page booklet. For Title 21 are each a bonus track. It is not known when the project with the third part is completed.

Yuzo Koshiro names like ( Streets of Rage, Shenmue ), Chris Hülsbeck ( Turrican, Star Wars: Rogue Squadron 2, Extreme Assault ) and Fabian Del Priore ( Cultures 2 ) vouch for the sound quality of the project. For Part 2 of the works of members of the Prague Symphony Orchestra and the New York Philharmonic under the direction of Andy Brick ( Disney's The Little Mermaid 2, Lady and the Tramp 2) were recorded.

Aim of the project

The aim of Merregnon is to interweave music, text and images into an atmospheric unit. The trilogy is to give artists a chance to present themselves to the world with their work together to achieve a younger audience, and it interested in orchestral music.

Background of the project

Thomas Boecker, executive producer of Merregnon project, first conceptual work began in autumn 1999 together with the composer Fabian Del Priore he started production on Part 1. ; in 2000 appeared Merregnon 1 and was a success. The album came in two editions on the market, published by Synsoniq Records, Europe's sales for computer games music and the Pegasus GmbH, a German dealer for fantasy products.

In spring 2001 we started work on Part 2, for which Music Director Andy Brick could be won for the first time. With his help, all the composers involved were brought to work with an orchestra, part 1 of Merregnon was realized exclusively with computer technology. The recordings for the project began in the summer of 2002 in Prague and were completed in the spring of 2003 in New York. Mixing and mastering joined in late 2003 or early 2004. The album was released in the same year on Soul Food. 2005 in Japan Part 2 of DEX Entertainment / Sony Music Japan released - in a completely new design.

The development of the project was followed with great interest, eg by media like New York Times, Famitsu, Symphony, Gamestar, GamePro, Bravo Screenfun, 4Players.de or MacLife - and many others.

Importance of the project

The Merregnon project considered to be pioneering in the field of orchestral game music. It combines the skills of composers from around the world and combines them. The Merregnon -2- orchestral recordings in 2002 were a novelty in their sector and source of ideas for other companies for a German production. The publication of a Japanese version of Merregnon 2 was another big step; Never before have so many Western game music composers were brought into focus the Japanese population.

The five Symphonic Game Music Concerts at the Games Convention in Leipzig 2003-2007 were produced by Merregnon team and apply as much as a pioneering work.

Performances

World premiere celebrated the Merregnon - 2 project in August 2003, as a medley was played from the soundtrack to the First Symphonic Game Music Concert in Leipzig Gewandhaus sold out before some 2,000 visitors. The piece began with a prologue of the English actor James Walker, a member of the Royal Shakespeare Company, and Empire of the Sun has been known for his work and others to Steven Spielberg. A title from the same soundtrack in 2005 was presented at the Chamber Music Game Concert (Leipzig ) and 2006 in four school concerts ( Meißen, Riesa and Großenhain ).
