Metin Erksan

Metin Erksan ( born January 1, 1929 in Çanakkale, Turkey; † August 4, 2012 in Istanbul) was a Turkish film director, actor and art historian. His film Susuz yaz 1964 won the grand prize at the Berlinale.

Erksan studied art history at the University of Istanbul. He directed 42 films directed, of which he also produced two, and wrote the screenplays for 29 films. In 1998, he starred in the title role of Alim Hoca.

  • Golden Bear at the Berlin International Film Festival in 1964 for the drama Susuz yaz

  • " Best Director " and " Best Film " at the Film Festival of Adana in 1969 for Kuyu.
