MetroPCS

MetroPCS was an American mobile service provider based in Richardson, Texas. The company was founded in 1996 as General Wireless, and had on the U.S. mobile market around 9 million customers. As the fifth largest mobile operator in the U.S., MetroPCS had a turnover of 4.8 billion dollars in 2011. In our own offices and in major retail chains such as Best Buy and Walmart, the popular smartphones from Apple, Samsung, HTC, LG and RIM have been displaced.

Merger with T-Mobile USA

On 3 October 2012, the German Telekom announced the merger of T- Mobile USA is the U.S. wireless carrier MetroPCS. The German Telekom is involved in the joint venture with 74%, the former shareholders of MetroPCS with 26%. The transaction was completed following approval by the relevant antitrust authorities in late April 2013. Since May 1, 2013, the new T -Mobile U.S. Inc. operates with the two brands, T -Mobile and MetroPCS in the market. The company is listed on the New York Stock Exchange. The former President of MetroPCS, Thomas C. Keys, is the new vice president of T -Mobile USA and as such, COO of MetroPCS area within the combined company.
