Metzgau
The Metzgau was a medieval Gaugrafschaft with the city of Metz as a center. From the Metzgau the county Metz emerged.
North of the Metzgaus, downriver was the Moselle district whose administrative headquarters Metz was at times, thus resulting in a spatial overlap with the results Metzgau at least for some time.
